Historical stock prices

Historical stock prices data can be downloaded from Yahoo starting with 1970. If you need such a long history, we would recommend to download Historical Stock Prices Weekly or even Monthly data for very remote dates, and create historical stock prices, End-of-Day symbol with a starting date, say 1998. This will dramatically reduce the Internet traffic and increase the speed of prices data update. HQuote performance depends on the length of historical data you download.

Historical Stock Prices Data downloads from Yahoo and Lycos Quote.com... Run Metastock Downloader and click File->New->Security menu or an equivalent icon in a toolbar. A New Security dialog will pop up. You can Browse to any folder (this will be used by MS Downloader for storing ASCII data). Enter the symbol or use Lookup button. Choose Periodicity (Daily, Weekly or Monthly) and set the First date. Leave other settings with default values (as shown above) You can have as many EOD folders as you wish (this is not true for Intraday symbols). Also you need to mark the symbols for download by clicking Tools->Download Prices menu (Ctrl-D). You need to add new folder with the symbols to a list of downloadable folders. You can also mark and unmark individual securities in the folder.

Historical stock prices at BigCharts ^SM gives closing prices for all futures on the New York, American, NASDAQ, and over-the-counter exchanges, some Canadian exchanges, and all NASDAQ quoted mutual funds

Yahoo! Finance offers Historical Quotes in daily, weekly, or monthly increments. We found daily quotes for IBM going back to 1962 but, according to the site, prices for most issues are from 1970 or later. Yahoo! Finance also includes dividends, classes of securities and preferred issues, stocks traded OTC or on foreign exchanges, reported in the Pink Sheets, mutual funds, and corporate bonds. Free MetaStock data feed from Yahoo:. Quotelf and MS Downloader can only download about the past 15 years data maximum. Daily updates for indices has no volume information. Actually, Yahoo provides two distinct methods for downloading quotes that we are aware of.
